Clearspring Unveils “Smart” Content Sharing Service
New Launchpad Offering Displays Customizable Sharing Menu Based on User PreferenceMcLean, Va. - October 28, 2008 — Clearspring Technologies, the leading widget network connecting publishers and advertisers to audiences on the social Web, today announced the beta release of the next generation of its free Launchpad sharing service. This announcement comes just one year after the initial release of the Launchpad offering. Since that time, nearly 18,000 additional publishers have signed on to use Launchpad, including most of the world's leading media companies such as Fox Broadcasting, NBC Universal, and Time Warner.
The Launchpad upgrade includes new features to give content publishers the ability to better determine the look and feel of the sharing menu while also providing end users with a more personalized content sharing experience.
"Sharing is becoming an increasingly important part of today's online experience and our mission is to provide publishers with the tools that offer the most flexibility and control for sharing their content," said Hooman Radfar, Clearspring's chief executive officer. "This beta version of Launchpad isn't just better, it's smarter. It gives end users a more personalized experience, where social destinations are presented in order of the user's historical sharing preferences. For example, if you regularly post content to Facebook and MySpace, those destinations will appear at the top of your sharing menu."
The new service includes a significantly improved sharing menu that publishers can now customize by color scheme, destination and size. Launchpad's new liquid sizing feature alters the menu size to automatically fit the publisher's widget content as well as to fit widget landing areas predetermined by social destinations. The free service also gives content publishers the ability to determine the social destinations they want to promote for each content element.
In addition to automatically prioritizing sharing destinations based on each user's content placement history, the new Launchpad menu includes other features for the consumer. Clearspring has responded to growing worldwide demand by including language localization capabilities to the sharing menu, including 10 popular languages: Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.
With its latest upgrade, Clearspring has developed a single, unified look and feel for both the Launchpad On-Page and Launchpad In-Widget sharing services. Anyone can use the Launchpad suite for free by registering at: www.clearspring.com/services/launchpad
